Google Netbooks: Epic Fail?

Google had barely announced its plans to sell lightweight laptops running their Chrome operating system when the experts began to predict their early demise. The world, they said, would not welcome what was essentially Google’s Chrome web browser on steroids.

For the non-geeks among you, Google’s browser has gotten a lot of attention, and market share, since its launch a few years ago. Eschewing the bloat you’ll find in browsers like Internet Explorer and Firefox, Chrome is small and nimble, and runs well even on older computers. It’s fast and secure, and already has an ecosystem of thousands of installable extensions, most free, that enhance your surfing experience. Read the rest of this entry »

Religion: Don’t Tell Me How To Think

Anyone who knows me, knows by now that I am not an admirer of organized religions. Please note that I said “organized religion”, not personal religion or spirituality. Humanity needs religion, so long as religion follows its original intent of getting the individual in touch with the universal. Although organized religions have served this function, they have failed miserably in bringing people from different faiths, and even within the same faith, together.

There are many aspects of religion that have contributed to the development and welfare of humanity. We need them. However, once a religion becomes organized, the problems creep in. Read the rest of this entry »
